The Problem
Mortgage refinancing is historically complex, opaque, and anxiety-inducing. The client needed an experience simple enough for anyone to navigate, regardless of financial literacy while meeting strict industry regulations.

Design Goals
Replace a legacy, abandoned concept with a modern mobile-first experience
Leverage AI to reduce user uncertainty and answer questions in real time
Create a flow simple enough for a homeowner with no financial background to navigate confidently
Deliver a proof of concept robust enough to secure executive buy-in and continued investment
Discovery
I worked closely with mortgage industry veterans, a product manager, and client stakeholders to define the scope and flow. Weekly presentations kept alignment tight across a complex, regulated domain.

AI Mortgage Concierge — persistent across every screen, available to answer questions in real time
Refinance Loan Options — presenting the client's three specific refinancing products clearly and comparably
Identity Verification — a trust and eligibility gate built into the flow
Closing Scheduler — completing the end-to-end journey so the POC felt like a real product

Wireframes & Iteration
Every stage was wireframed and built into a living clickable prototype in Figma. Stakeholders walked through real interactions every week not just static decks. Structure was locked only after continuous validation from the people who knew the industry best.
The Project
A large quasi-governmental mortgage institution needed a modern mobile refinancing experience that could replace a failed attempt from years prior and demonstrate a new vision to executive leadership using AI, better UX, and simpler flows.
